peaceful protest/march against the war gets broken up by a group of cops who proceed to arrest & beat participants in the street. 27 police cars were counted at the scene. one person was arrested for “swearing in public”. now police are saying they were “attacked with signs & drums”.

…signs & drums are definitely comparable to pepper spray & batons.

participants are all physically okay now, save 2 who sustained injuries significantly enough to be hospitalized. however, the emotional trauma inflicted on our fellow citizens by those who are supposed to protect us runs deep, and will not be forgotten. moreover, we will continue to protest injustice in this police state. assaulting a group on nonviolent activists is no way to gain any respect(!!)

as citizens, it is our duty to educate ourselves about our rights when it comes to dealing with law enforcement. police will not always help you, and your government will not protect you!!

- just say ‘no’ to police searches.
- know your rights!
- at the station: your rights if detained.
- a criminal defense lawyer on your rights.

fuck the police.
